Contralto Giulia Utz performs in the Greater New York metropolitan area as a soloist and with professional choral ensembles. She appears regularly as a soloist with the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, the Rockland Camerata and the Queensborough Chorus and has sung with American Lyric Theater, the New York Continuo Collective, the Canticum Novum Festival Singers, Voices of Ascension, the New Jersey Philharmonic Orchestra and Bang on a Can All Stars. She is currently the alto soloist at Christ Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A specialist in early music performance practices; she produces solo recitals of early baroque music and has directed performances of medieval music at the Cloisters museum in upper Manhattan. In 2005 she created a women’s schola at Christ Church to explore medieval chant written and/or performed by women. 

Ms. Utz holds music degrees from Youngstown State University and Sarah Lawrence College and has a practitioner certificate in Jin Shin Jyutsu, a type of Japanese bodywork. After years of work with a number of cutting-edge singing instructors in New York City, Ms. Utz established a singing studio in Central New Jersey to bring these innovative techniques to new singers.
